The Linux Foundation’s latest report, released in collaboration with Canonical, suggests that European open source software (OSS) is at a turning point.
The majority of European businesses have incorporated open source software into their technical stacks, reporting benefits including higher productivity (63%) and higher quality software (75%).

Critically, open source is increasingly viewed as the gateway to digital sovereignty – an issue of growing importance for business leaders and policymakers alike. In particular, sovereign AI has been a key focus area for many organizations. Open source has a critical role to play in this area: 89% of European organizations consider open source software as a critical approach to successfully developing sovereign AI.
